San Diego Credit Lawyer – What Kind of Credit Debt are You Facing?

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

What kind of debt are you dealing with?  Even if you can narrow it down to credit card debt, there are at least two subcategories that your situation could fall into.  Consequently, the type of credit problems you are facing will determine the kind of Sand Diego credit lawyer you want to work with.  First, if you are a consumer with credit problems after making more personal purchases than you could actually afford, you need a credit lawyer who specializes as a counselor to debtors.  This kind of lawyer can assist you in discussing possible bankruptcy options.

You may also be a business person with credit problems from business purchases.  Hold on for just one moment, because you may not yet be at the point of bankruptcy like you think you are.  Your first step should be in consulting with a business lawyer who possesses experience with business representation in court.  Your problems will be assessed by this kind of lawyer and they may be able to devise a plan that will resolve your debt issues without the need to file for bankruptcy.  If this professional can see that you are at the point of needing to file for bankruptcy, he will refer you to a Sand Diego credit lawyer if he deems it necessary.

Hopefully, going through this experience of selecting the best Sand Diego credit lawyer to work with will be a one-time incident.  However, if as a business person you are facing continual financial trouble, you may want to retain a lawyer that can cover all your business needs when you are facing financial trouble or other legal claims that need to be handled professionally.

As you struggle to choose between one credit lawyer and the next, use a few important key points to whittle your options down to only the best in the San Diego area.  Feel free to look at online profiles of lawyers on their websites.  After all, the internet is often the most convenient way to locate credit lawyers in San Diego.  Other than using the internet, you could also check the yellow pages or local newspapers.  Make a few calls and familiarize yourself with the initial customer service you experience.  Even if the only person you end up speaking to is the receptionist, it can be a strong indication of what kind of service you can expect to receive should you choose to work with that San Diego credit lawyer in particular.

San Diego Credit Card Debt – Don’t Charge It, Take Charge

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

Charge it! Too many of us are turning to plastic these days, to help make ends meet. Rising costs of living and shrinking income are leaving even the most financially savvy individuals scrambling to make the bills at the end of the month. San Diego credit card debt is at a near all time high, and more and more folks, just like you and I are defaulting on their bills. Credit card companies are finding themselves in a crisis as well, as folks that have over extended themselves are not making payments, leaving their creditors holding the bill with little recourse to get paid.

The rise in San Diego credit card debt has caused many creditors to raise their interest rates and increase the required minimum monthly payments that all of their customers must make. These hikes are leaving even the most conservative users of credit to suffer under new and increased monthly financial burden. Unfortunately, more and more people are being forced to use their credit cards as a way to put gas in their tanks, food on their tables and in some cases even to keep a roof over their heads.

With the economy as uncertain as it is today, and any recovery seeming miles and miles away, San Diego credit card debt is like a giant weight that is bringing all of us down. Unless you can find a way to simplify your life and cut some of your expenses, so that your monthly bills are less than your monthly income, “charging it” may just cause you to lose it all. Rather than paying your cable bill on plastic, it may be time to consider canceling cable, until you can afford it. Before you use credit to fill your gas tank again, you should investigate if there is a less expensive, public transportation method available to you.

Unfortunately, for right now, it appears that San Diego credit card debt is not going anywhere in a big hurry. Rather than allowing yourself to succumb to the credit card crisis of 2009, it is time that you took charge of your finances, and disempower the creditors. Until we get back into the mind frame of living fully within our means, the light at the end of the tunnel is not going to get any closer or brighter for any of us. Meeting with a bankruptcy attorney or other financial planner can help get you closer to that light.

San Diego Credit Repair – You can do it!

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

If you are like many people living in San Diego today, you probably have some credit problems.  Here, I’m going to outline some of the best tips for anyone trying to fix their own credit!  Some of them seem really simple, yet people make these mistakes every day!  These tips will save you lots of time and effort.  The first thing you want to do in San Diego credit repair is to contact the credit bureaus to dispute your negative items.  Some of them will just fall off and you won’t have to worry about them.

The next tip I’m going to give you is to keep track of what you do in your efforts to fix your credit.  First, you can do this any way you want to, but find something and stick with it so you don’t lose your documentation.  Some people like to use a folder, some a notebook.  Credit bureaus have thirty days to respond to a negative item dispute or else they must remove it from your report!  Give them their 30 days, and see what they have to say about it.  When working on San Diego credit repair, be diligent, and don’t let them get away with anything – make sure you document!

The third tip I want to impart upon you is this: do not dispute your credit report via the internet.  I know it seems easy and simple and much faster than writing a letter with all the details, but trust me on this one.  You want to mail your disputes in writing, preferably via certified mail, return receipt requested.  If you use the internet, it will be diluted and simplified and sent through so many computers your head could spin.  San Diego credit repair is best done in a more personal fashion.

There are two more little bits of information I want to give you on San Diego credit repair.  First, don’t be unrealistic.  If you have had a rocky road, it might be rockier to fix it up and pay things down.  Second, don’t give up!  It is a slow process, but don’t overwhelm yourself.  Take it one tiny piece at a time.  It’s alright if it takes some time, but don’t bog yourself down by doing too much at once.  You can do this but send out just a letter or two at a time, and don’t spend more than an hour or two at a time working on this.  If you are diligent, careful, patient, and realistic, you can have success.
